Wetlands are the world’s most productive ecosystems, and they are under pressure from the effects of human activities such as agriculture, industrialisation, and urbanisation as well as from environmental alternations caused by climate change. Yet, there is a lack of data and knowledge about these important wetlands, and how can you protect what you do not know?
The Global Wetland Watch will provide accessible, reliable and accurate data, information and maps on changes occurring to different wetland types. The available data will fill global data gaps and provide high-resolution maps and statistics to country decision makers and stakeholders that seek to protect the world’s remaining wetlands and restore areas of degraded wetlands.
The Global Wetland Watch will play a critical role in helping countries secure freshwater services, mitigate climate change and conserve wetland biodiversity. In short, the Global Wetland Watch can help support action to conserve the world’s wetlands.
We are actively seeking more partners and funders so do reach out if you want to join the partnership.
